Upload a file to most CNC marketplaces and an algorithm reads bounding box, hole count and material — then pads the price for whatever it can't parse (a tight tolerance, a thin wall, a fixture your part actually needs), or rejects the part outright as unmachinable. It also can't tell you whose shop that file just got forwarded to. CNC wins before tooling would pay for itself — validating a design, or a volume in the tens to low thousands. Molding wins once you're past that break-even and need thousands of identical parts at a lower piece price.
3D printing wins for the fastest possible prototype or geometry CNC genuinely can't reach, like internal lattices. CNC wins the moment the part needs to perform — real metal strength, a tolerance a printer can't hold, or a finished surface.

Often, yes — send it. Algorithmic DFM auto-rejects geometry it can't parse: deep pockets, thin walls, undercuts, tight true-position callouts. Those are exactly the parts our engineers review by hand — within 24–48 hours you get back how we'd fixture and machine it or, if the part genuinely can't be made as drawn, the smallest design change that makes it machinable.
Aluminum, stainless and mild steel, and engineering plastics like ABS and PEEK as standard, finished with anodizing, powder coating, painting or polishing under the same quote — no separate vendor or lead time to coordinate.
As standard, parts ship as-machined — a clean, functional tool finish with faint tooling marks. For a smoother or near-cosmetic surface we specify smooth- or fine-machining, and any coating (anodizing, bead blasting, powder coat, polish) goes on top of that, all under the same quote. Tell your engineer the surface the part actually needs and it's planned into the program, not chased afterward.
Then it changes — before you're locked into anything. If your geometry, target price or volume line up better with injection molding, sheet metal or another process, your engineer flags it and requotes under the right one. Opening this page doesn't commit you to this process.
Sustainability
CNC is a subtractive process — every part starts as solid billet, and what comes off it is swarf, not scrap product. Sorted by alloy instead of mixed, that swarf keeps its full scrap value instead of heading to landfill.
