Do you design products from a sketch or an idea?

No — we're not an industrial design studio. If you need concept design, sketching, or brand-level product design, bring your own designer or studio and we'll work directly with them from day one — or, if you don't have one yet, we can introduce you to one of the design studios we partner with. What we do is take an existing CAD file — yours or theirs — and engineer it for manufacturability, cost and process fit.

Who actually guides my design?

People who make parts for a living: our own engineers, mold makers and industrial designers. They don't redraw your product — they guide it: flagging what will fail in the chosen process, what will cost more than it needs to, and which small geometry changes get the best possible result. Through it all, one engineer stays your single point of contact from quote to production.

What if I only have a rough CAD file, not a finished design?

That's fine — rough is a normal starting point. An engineer looks it over at whatever stage it's at and flags what needs to firm up before it can be accurately quoted, rather than requiring a finished, production-ready file upfront.

My part was designed for 3D printing — can you adapt it for injection molding?

That's one of the most common jobs here. A file that prints cleanly usually can't be molded as drawn — no draft angles, uneven walls, undercuts a mold can't release — but it doesn't need redesigning from scratch. It needs an engineering pass: draft added, walls made uniform, solid sections turned into ribs. You see every change and its cost impact before any tooling is cut, and the part keeps working and looking the way you designed it. The same applies to any process switch — the concept stays yours; the geometry gets engineered for the process that'll actually run it.

What's the difference between this and the DFM pass on every order?

Every order includes a DFM pass on the parts being made, once the quote is approved. This capability goes further: reviewing a whole product or assembly for consolidation, material strategy and cost-down opportunities across multiple parts, not just checking one part's tolerances.

Can you work directly with my design studio?

Yes — if your product was designed by an outside studio, we coordinate manufacturability directly with them rather than relaying feedback through you. Their design intent and our production constraints get resolved directly, not lost between two separate conversations.

Will engineering my design for manufacturability change how it looks?

Only if you want it to. Every recommendation comes with its cost impact shown, so you decide what to keep as-is for looks or brand reasons and what to simplify for cost — nothing gets changed without you seeing the tradeoff first.

Does this cost extra on top of my quote?

No — the DFM pass that follows an approved quote is included on every order, the same as any other process. A deeper, whole-product review — consolidating multiple parts or rethinking material strategy across an assembly — is scoped with your engineer based on what's actually involved, not a fixed add-on fee.

What if my product needs actual concept or aesthetic design work?

Then it needs an industrial designer — and we'll say so rather than take on work outside what we're good at. But you're not left on your own: our engineers, mold makers and industrial designers will guide you on what the design has to hit to manufacture well — process, material, cost targets — and we can introduce you to one of the design studios we partner with. Once the concept exists, the same engineer picks the file back up and takes it through quoting and production.
